"Sales and Distribution Marketing"
The independent film sector relies on achieving worldwide sales and marketing in order to recoup finance spent on their project. For this, Producers depend on Sales Agents to sell their film in relevant territories and Distributors who will buy the rights to exploit it in every medium (Theatrical, DVD, Airlines, Online etc).
We will examine the fundamentals behind sales deals and discover what an agent is looking for as well as what they will do for you at markets and festivals across the world and even, at the stage of writing your script. We will look at global markets and festivals, identify the distribution and exhibition chain, highlight new models of distribution and finally, look at both the pre and the post marketing of a film.Essentially what they are looking for in a film for it to be a success? We examine audience patterns and breakdown what they are likely to buy or watch and why? You will better understand the financial calculations involved in assessing if a filmed project is worth making and how much you can gain with it in the market place - vital information that you must know, prior to getting your project off the ground.
