Edinburgh Film Festival
The successful launch of the Imaginox Academy of Creative Arts at the Cannes Film Festival this year has been followed by a prestigious series of high-profile events and interactive sessions at the Edinburgh Film Festival.
Imaginox travelled up to Edinburgh’s Festival House to co-host an insightful and practical Seminar on the 20th June 2011: “Beyond The Story – Getting your Film Greenlit” with Keith Potter, Head of Talent at the Welsh Film Agency and Alan Maher, Head of Production at the Irish Film Board.
Anita Lewton (Producer, Screenwriter and former chair of the NPA) who heads up Imaginox’s Online Producers Lab chaired the session and sparked a lively debate about the future of film financing and development funding within this new era of cuts and austerity.
The event was a great success with audience members keen to hear more in-depth analysis on critical issues, such as why certain films receive funding quicker than others and where to shoot your project as well as how to build your perfect creative team.
This session perfectly demonstrates what Imaginox aims to create – an Online – Offline blend of events at Festivals and Markets around the world, where we aim to not only deliver invaluably practical advice to those who attend from industry experts but also, to build a physical face for our online offering.
Arjun Chatterji, CEO of Imaginox also took part in an event, hosted by Distrify and streamed live on the net, which looked at Online Distribution and Marketing. Other panellists included, Chris Jones (The Guerrilla Filmmakers Handbook) and Phil Hawkins (Independent Director of “Being Sold”).
This was part of Imaginox’s broader strategy of engaging with our online members, facilitating key meetings and networking opportunities on their behalf. It was an invaluable experience for Imaginox to get members’ feedback, building those suggestions into their core business proposition.
Membership on the Imaginox Platform is free for a limited time.
