The concept behind Distrify is simple but incredibly effective: whenever a film trailer is shared through the Distrify video player, viewers have a host of different purchase options, as determined by the filmmaker. They can pay to view the entire film, watch it immediately on the Distrify Player or purchase the download-to-own version of the film as well as buy in the DVD, Blu-Ray and any ancillary content or merchandising. This can be combined with looking up local theatre listings in order to broaden the Online – Offline offering to an independent filmmaker.
Using already established social networking tools, films on Distrify can be marketed and distributed out on a multitude of different platforms, generating affiliate revenue for any web partners who embed the film on their own websites – thereby, also lowering the chance of internet piracy. The revenue sharing model between the filmmaker and Distrify is incredibly fair and favourable for any independent production and really highlights the tangible benefits that can be reaped using the Distrify player.
