Imaginox partners up with the School of Sound

The Imaginox Academy of Creative Arts and the prestigious School of Sound have formed a long-term alliance to co-develop an array of innovative, cutting-edge new content, spanning both sound and the visual medium.
Our two communities will be able to network, collaborate, showcase material and access unique content on the Imaginox platform, tailored to the needs of the industry.
The School of Sound was founded in 1998 to challenge the domination of the visual within the audio-visual industries and promote the creative possibilities of the soundtrack. Its ongoing programme of seminars, workshops, master classes and educational consultancies has made the School of Sound a focus for all those working in media and the arts to learn about the practical and theoretical aspects of sound production in screen media.
Every two years the School of Sound holds its International Symposium, a major forum on the creative use of sound with image. During these four-day events leading practitioners, academics and artists working at the highest levels of film, the arts and media, demonstrate the soundtrack from unexpected perspectives. They reveal the methods, theories and creative thinking that lie behind the most effective uses of sound and music. If you work in film, television, commercials, radio or multimedia, this event will convince you of the extraordinary potential of the soundtrack. This distinctive event, next held in April 2011, has featured Walter Murch, Ren Klyce, Skip Lievsay, Carter Burwell, Ann Kroeber, Michael Nyman, Tom Holman, Gabriel Yared, Richard Leacock and the Brothers Quay amongst its many presenters. From these meetings has emerged a book, “Soundscape: The School of Sound Lectures 1998-2001″, featuring transcripts of the presentations from the first four years of the event.
Key to the School of Sound’s activities is its consultancy to arts and media education. The School of Sound disseminates the ideas and expertise that come out of its events into curricula, courses of study and training and research done by a wide variety of global organisations (Film London, London Film School, Screen Academy Scotland, era Ltd, University College Ghent (for its Joint MA Sound on Screen) and now, Imaginox) and festivals, held around the world.
Arjun Chatterji (CEO Imaginox Academy of Creative Arts): "We are thrilled to have Larry Sider and the School of Sound within the Imaginox family. Our ambition is to develop a platform, which covers all aspects of film and media education, delivered by outstanding thought leaders and key influencers within the respective fields in the industry. Having Larry Sider as a key part of our core team in achieving the highest quality and standard of course content is absolutely invaluable. We greatly look forward to continuing our work with Larry, Diane and the School and Sound, and in the near future, designing courses on all areas of sound design, sound artistry and sound production."
Larry Sider (Head of the School of Sound): "The School of Sound is always seeking new avenues to provide the highest level of teaching in sound and post-production to those who are committed to creativity and professional expertise. We are fortunate to be associated with organisations and people who aspire to do the same and who appreciate the importance of developing centres of excellence. Having worked closely on the editing course curriculum together with Mick Audsley, I believe that Imaginox will be enthusiastically received. Virtual learning has already proved to be successful in several industries and is one of the most viable solutions for delivering professional development with the added benefit of crossing global territories. We look forward to the evolution and the new challenges, naturally arising from this unique medium of educational delivery."
